So I ended up contacting customer service and got an answer regarding the firmware CBP1FN1547AR for the DeskJet 2549 if you're using Mac Sierra. The updated and equivalent firmware is found when selecting the El Captian OS under the Software and Driver tab and it is not seen when selecting Sierra OS. I've also included a direct link that was given to me through the online chat.

This all-in-one printer is an efficient machine for printing, scanning, and copying. The size of the printer is 157 x 425 x 306 mm (HWD), weighing 5.21 Kg. The HP Deskjet 2549 all-in-one printer driver is compatible with the following Windows Operating systems; Windows XP Service packs III, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. The recommended system requirement for a processor is an Intel Pentium III or higher for Windows XP. For Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8 and 10, the prescribed condition is 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit.


The standard connecting port is through the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port located at the rear side of the printer. The HP Deskjet 2549 all-in-one printer has a wireless functioning in addition to the USB connection. There is no ethernet connection for networking.


Regarding speed, the first page of the printer comes after just about 17 seconds for black and within 24 seconds for colored. The regular prints speed is up to 20 pages per minute (ppm) for black. Whereas, for colored prints, the printer works at the rate of 16 ppm. The monthly duty cycle of the HP 2549 printer is 1000 pages, but the recommended usage should be lesser than that.


Power consumption for HP Deskjet 2549 is minimal. When at optimum use, it consumes a maximum of 10 watts from an external supply. At standby, it only uses 1.6 watts of power.
