Winchester Serial Numbers Model 101 !!LINK!!

There is probably some kernel of truth to all of them. But the fact remains; there is no original, single, totally accurate database of serial numbers from 1866 forward that we are aware of. But perhaps these pages can help you somewhat in your research.

Winchester Serial Numbers Model 101

Seems this question gets asked a lot, and although I don't see any answers myself on any PDF or other data sheets I have to ask. I have a 20GA 101 Pigeon XTR 25.5 length barrels serial number by memory is PK273XX. I recently saw an answer for someone with a K00082x as a 1966 since mine has the PK and 5 digits should I believe it's older then the LOST serial numbers (after 1971) or is someone sitting on a mystical source of information? If you know when mine was made I'd like to know. Thanks

The Winchester 101 model is a shotgun that began manufacture in 1959. The gun originally was issued as a 12 gauge in 1959. Serial numbers for this model range from 50,000 to more than 140,500. The gun is also manufactured as a 20 gauge, 28 gauge and .410 bore.

The 20-gauge version of the Winchester 101 was introduced in 1966. The 28-gauge and the .410-bore versions were first released in 1968. Serial numbers for the 20-gauge, 28-gauge and .410-bore versions of the Winchester 101 start at 200,000 and move upwards over 228,500. Serial numbers for Winchester 101 model guns manufactured after 1971 may need to be verified directly with the Winchester Repeating Arms Company for authenticity.

In 1919 Winchester abandoned numbering models by the year of introduction and assigned two-digit numbers, sequential beginning with 51 for rifles. Older guns still in production had their model numbers truncated, e.g. the Model 1912 shotgun became the Model 12. There was one exception: the unconventional "Thumb Trigger" rifle, which was not previously numbered, was given the designation 99.[1] 041b061a72
