Windows 98 SE PL Bootable is a Polish version of Windows 98 Second Edition, a 16/32-bit operating system with a graphical user interface developed by Microsoft. It was released on June 10, 1999 and added features such as Internet Explorer 5, NetMeeting, Internet Connection Sharing, DVD-ROM support and multi-user functionality. Windows 98 SE PL Bootable also supports the FAT32 file system, which was introduced in Windows 95 OSR2 and allows for larger disk partitions and more efficient disk space usage.

In this article, we will show you how to install Windows 98 SE PL Bootable on a modern PC via USB using a bootable ISO image and a free tool called Rufus.

What You Need

  • A PC with a USB port and a BIOS that supports booting from USB.

  • A USB flash drive with at least 1 GB of free space.

  • A Windows 98 SE PL Bootable ISO image. You can download it from here.

  • A tool called Rufus that can create bootable USB drives from ISO images. You can download it from here.

Step 1: Create a Bootable USB Drive

First, you need to create a bootable USB drive from the Windows 98 SE PL Bootable ISO image using Rufus. Follow these steps:

  • Insert your USB flash drive into your PC and launch Rufus.

  • Select your USB flash drive under Device and click Select to browse for the Windows 98 SE PL Bootable ISO image.

  • Under Boot selection, choose Disk or ISO image (Please select) and click OK.

  • Under Image option, choose Standard Windows installation.

  • Under Partition scheme, choose MBR.

  • Under Target system, choose BIOS (or UEFI-CSM).

Step 2: Install Windows 98 SE PL Bootable

Next, you need to install Windows 98 SE PL Bootable on your PC using the bootable USB drive. Follow these steps:

  • Restart your PC and enter the BIOS setup by pressing the appropriate key (e.g. F2, F10, Del).

  • Navigate to the Boot menu and change the boot order so that the USB flash drive is the first option.

  • Save the changes and exit the BIOS setup.

  • Your PC will boot from the USB flash drive and launch the Windows 98 SE PL Bootable setup program.
