Arlo Wire-Freee cameras are designed for use with the non-rechargeable batteries that they ship with, but we have partnered with Tenergy to offer rechargeable CR123 batteries that are compatible with your Arlo cameras. Tenergy rechargeable batteries can be recharged up to 500 times, and a Tenergy battery charger is available for purchase separately or bundled with a set of batteries.

The Arlo Go battery has a higher capacity than the Arlo Pro and Arlo Pro 2 camera battery. Arlo Go and Arlo Pro/Pro 2 batteries are not interchangeable. Arlo has partnered with Tenergy to offer rechargeable CR123 batteries that are compatible with Arlo Wire-Free cameras. Tenergy batteries and chargers are available directly from Tenergy or from other third party retailers. If you choose to buy Tenergy rechargeable RCR123A batteries, make sure you purchase batteries that are marked: Works with Arlo.

Both Costco and Sams sell Arlo kits here in Hawaii, but they don't sell the batteries. I've looked around at other retailers like Best Buy and CVS and they also don't have the regular lithium versions of these batteries.

The crazy thing about Amazon, is I just found that if I order the rechargeable batteries WITH the charger unit (for $50), they WILL ship it to me. But if I order just the rechargeable batteries (without the charger), they won't ship it. My co-worker was just telling me she had ordered a cell phone from Amazon (that came with a battery of course), but when she tried to order just a new battery for it, they won't ship it to Hawaii. I guess this is really an Amazon issue.

Are there any non-rechargeable batteries for Arlo cameras that work well? Reading up on Amazon, I see other CR123 batteries, but most of the reviews say not to use them with Arlo cameras; the claim is they don't last very long.

Ah right. You have an Arlo and not an Arlo Pro camera. I can't get the Tenergy CR123 where I am and tried out some Ultrafire ones. They're great and last ages, possibly longer than my Energizers. The biggest issue with rechargeables is there are so many fakes out there so you have to be careful. I grabbed a Nitecore D4 charger and it's fantastic too

I finally found a place that sells these batteries in Hawaii. The cost: nearly $8 a battery. To replace the batteries in my 3 cameras, it'll be nearly $100. I got nearly 3 months out of my OEM batteries so at that rate, I'm looking at about $400 a year in batteries. About the cost of the system....and more than the cost signing up with some home security services.

Thankfully, I spoke to Sams Club about it and they'll take these back for a full refund. Thank you Sams club. However, Sams probably should have stocked these batteries or rechargeables...if they were going to sell these cameras.

I think most people would agree with me - $100 to replace the batteries in 3 cameras is not worth it. When I returned mine, I strongly suggested to my local Sam's club that they either stop selling these cameras or at the very least, stock the damn batteries (at a reasonable price)!

The Arlo system is pretty good - very easy to setup and use. However, the practical aspect of how they perform - with motion detection, was marginal. I usually captured people just as they walked out of the recording frame, or the backs of people walking away from the camera. I read through all the setup FAQs, and I tried many different camera locations. But I simply could never capture someone's face. This lackluster performance, along with an outrageous ongoing battery cost (which I guess only applies to places like Hawaii where you can't get batteries at affordable prices), leads me to say that this system just isn't worth it. Again, if you live in a place like Hawaii, don't buy this! The model with the built in rechargeable maybe a "passable" option. But I still don't think it'll fix the marginal performance of the cameras.

In addition to its spotlight and siren, we loved that the Ring Spotlight Cam Battery was completely wireless, powered by a quick-release rechargeable battery pack. Not only did this mean we never had to run out and buy new batteries, it also meant our camera would stay on during a power outage. For added backup, we added a second battery pack, and we had the option of using a solar panel, for continuous charge.

The batteries are swappable, so rather than having the camera out of action when the battery needs charging you can just insert another battery, providing you purchase additional ones. We found that it took around three and a half hours to recharge the battery using the bundled USB cable and power adapter.

If you'd rather avoid cloud services, consider the impressive Tapo C420S2 system. You get two cameras with a small hub that plugs into your router via Ethernet, and it takes microSD cards up to 256 GB (sold separately). Video resolution goes up to 2K, and the footage is crisp and detailed. I was especially impressed by the nighttime performance. Testing on a long dark side passage, where most cameras fail to penetrate to the gate at the end, the Tapo picked out every detail. The Starlight sensor enables color night vision, and there are two built-in spotlights.

Connectivity: Most security cameras will connect to your Wi-Fi router on the 2.4-GHz band. Depending on where you intend to install them, you may appreciate the support for the 5-GHz band, which enables the stream to load more quickly. Some systems, such as the EufyCam 2 Pro, come with a hub that can act as a Wi-Fi range extender. Bear in mind that you shouldn't install a security camera in a location without a strong Wi-Fi signal.

The Eufy Security app provides one-touch access to a live view through the camera, as well as a glimpse at Wi-Fi strength and the number of recent recorded events. You can access those events by clicking on that number or the Events tab at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on the three dots in the bottom right-hand corner brings up three icons: The little moon will snooze alerts for anywhere between 30 minutes and 12 hours, the light bulb will turn the floodlight on and off, and the cog brings up a variety of settings. Click on Settings to adjust Motion Detection, which includes Activity Zones and a choice between tracking all motion and just people. The Light Settings section is where you can customize Ambient Light and Motion-Activated Light by tweaking color temperature and brightness, scheduling ambient light, and setting how quickly you want the lights to come on and for how long (from 30 seconds to 15 minutes). Other settings include the option to use color night vision, choose recording length (30 to 120 seconds), enable audio, and choose whether you want smartphone notifications to arrive quickly or with a thumbnail of the action.

We plan to review the TP-Link Tapo C420S2 Smart Wire-Free Security Camera System, a system that comes with two wire-free 2K cameras and the Tapo H200 Hub. Both cameras have color night vision, should last 180 days using removable batteries, and have the ability to identify people, pets, and cars. Users can save camera footage to a microSD card or Tapo Care cloud storage (starting at $3.50 per month).

With that said, how long do these rechargeable batteries? Do Arlo batteries go bad? How often do they go bad? Should you be concerned regarding how quickly these batteries go bad?

Yes. All security cam and Wi-Fi doorbell camera batteries do. In fact, all batteries for mobile devices and appliances will go bad if abused or not taken care of. By that question, are you implying that Arlo security camera batteries in particular have a tendency to go bad? If that is the case then that is false.

The batteries should function as intended as long as you follow these guidelines and maintain the integrity of these batteries. There are a couple of things you need to keep in mind when it comes to taking care of Arlo batteries that will be outlined below.
